We are excited to welcome Laura Leigh of Wild Horse Education to the CANA Foundation team! Laura brings a wide array of experience in protecting wild places and wild horses through the concepts of rewilding.

Wild Horse Education was created by Leigh with a straightforward approach that led to precedent setting legal action against abuse, unjustified removals and gained landmark First Amendment victories. Key to the success of WHE is the dedication to field work to lay a foundation for pragmatic action that translates to the field level. She is the only person in history to take BLM to court over the inhumane treatment of wild horses at roundups.

Meet Leigh through this special film, The Fate of the Wild.

Leigh has a deep understanding of the law and over a decade of on-the-ground experience on public lands. Her work includes the only cases in history against abuse during the capture of wild horses. One of her First Amendment court rulings, to open the world of wild horses to public scrutiny, is now used to protect civil rights nationwide. Her work on the range, and in the courtroom, has been featured in several books and countless news features.

On Leigh’s website, you can stay up to date on how to take action and advocate for wild horses and burros.
